Odisha bagged a total of 10 medals in the National Benchpress Championship, which was held at Jamshedpur from February 23 to 27, 2013. According to news published on Odia dailies, Sakti Ranjan Barik was most successful, winning four medals _ two gold in junior category and two silver medals in senior category.
Brahmapada Behera won one silver in Master-1 unequipped category and one bronze in equipped category. Samita Barik claimed one gold medal in 84kg senior women’s unequipped category, Byasa Prasad Singh secured one silver medal in 59kg junior category, Sarat Biswal captured one silver medal in 83kg senior category and Samarendra Prasad pocketed one bronze medal in 83kg junior category.
